A Burnley-based fire and security specialist has reaffirmed its commitment to the local community by donating CCTV systems to two local organisations.

Thorne Fire & Security, now operating from its new premises on Holme Road, Burnley, has provided state-of-the-art surveillance equipment to Labels for Cares and the Friends of Ightenhill Park, helping to keep their facilities safe and secure.

Owner Hadrian Thorne explained: “We supplied a monitored intruder alarm system to Labels for Cares when it first opened in Burnley town centre in 2020.

“While browsing social media recently, we saw they had experienced a shoplifting incident, and their existing CCTV footage lacked the clarity needed for evidence.

“We contacted Anthony Fairclough, one of the co-founders, and offered to install a high-definition system free of charge to give the team greater peace of mind and better protection for their staff and stock.”

Anthony said: “We were really touched by the gesture from Thorne. Their support means a lot to us and strengthens our sense of safety. Every item we sell helps raise vital funds for our charity, so to have things stolen is crushing.  Having a better CCTV system gives us all peace of mind.”

Thorne’s generosity didn’t stop there. The company also approached the Friends of Ightenhill Park, whose previous CCTV system — installed years ago to protect polytunnels and containers — had begun to degrade due to wear and tear.

The team at Thorne Fire & Security replaced the old equipment with advanced 4K CCTV cameras, offering 24/7 recording and remote access for both live viewing and playback.

Barry Bamford, Chairman of the Friends of Ightenhill Park, commented: “We’re incredibly grateful to Thorne Fire & Security for their continued support. The new system gives us added reassurance that the park and our resources are protected. It’s great to see a local business giving back in such a meaningful way.”

Hadrian added: “Supporting local organisations is part of who we are. These systems are about more than security — they’re about building trust and helping our community thrive.”
